Chinese carrier Juneyao Air Celebrated the delivery of their first Airbus A320neo powered by Pratt & Whitney’s quiet and fuel-efficient GTFTM engines. The delivery ceremony was held Monday at Airbus’ Tianjin Delivery Centre.
Pratt & Whitney announced on Monday the delivery of Juneyao Air’s first Airbus A320neo powered by Pratt & Whitney GTFTM engines. Representatives from Airbus, Pratt & Whitney and Juneyao Air attended the delivery ceremony at the Airbus Tianjin Delivery Centre. Shanghai-based Juneyao Air is one of the leading privately owned carriers on the Chinese mainland and operates a modern fleet of 72 Airbus A320 Family aircraft and Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Seventeen of the airline’s Airbus A320ceos are powered by Pratt & Whitney V2500® engines and serve on both domestic and international routes. At Monday’s ceremony, Juneyao Group Chairman, Wang Junjin said,
“For Juneyao Air, this delivery marks the beginning of a new generation for our fleet. We believe the GTF powered A320neo will enhance our operations in many new ways with proven fuel efficiency, quitter cabin experience, and opportunity to introduce new destinations for our passengers.”
Introduced in early 2016, the GTF engine has delivered on its promise of a 16% reduction in fuel burn, 75% noise footprint reduction and nitrogen oxide emissions that are half the regulatory standard. Also commenting on today’s aircraft delivery, Pratt & Whitney’s Chief Customer Officer and Senior Vice President Customers, Rick Deurloo added,
“We appreciate the successful relationship we have developed with Juneyao for over a decade. As we continue to support Juneyao’s V2500-powered fleet, we are thrilled to see the airline expand their operations with the addition of the next generation GTF-powered A320neo family fleet, starting with today’s delivery. The engine will help drive Juneyao’s growth in the region.”
