Lufthansa Cargo Announces New Leadership Appointments for Europe, the Middle East & Beyond

Dr. Andre Schulz is now leading region Europe, while Stephanie Pöhn-Helbig will lead the Middle East, Africa & South Asia & CIS region from March 2025.

On Friday (January 17, 2025), Lufthansa Cargo announced the appointment of Dr. Andre Schulz, previously Head of Region Middle East, Africa & South Asia & CIS, as the carrier’s new Head of Region Europe, effective January 1st, 2025.  In his new role leading Region Europe, he is responsible for all Lufthansa Cargo activities in the region, succeeding Oliver von Götz, who became Head of Global Fulfillment Management last fall.  Dr. Schulz holds a doctorate in business and has worked for the Lufthansa Group since 2008.  Having held a variety of management roles with the Group at international locations, including 17 years of corporate and sales experience, he joined Lufthansa Cargo in 2022.


Effective March 1st, 2025, Stephanie Pöhn-Helbig, currently Head of Crew Control, will become Head of Region Middle East, Africa & South Asia and CIS, where she will manage all activities for the region.  In her new role, Ms. Pöhn-Helbig will be based in Frankfurt.  The MBA graduate brings a diverse background in aviation spanning various national and international locations through her career in the German Air Force and in the airline and aviation industry.  She joined Lufthansa Group in 2021, and Lufthansa Cargo’s crew management in 2023.


In Friday’s announcement, Lufthansa Cargo’s Head of Global Markets, Anand Kulkarni, said,


“I am excited to further strengthen our global sales organization with Stephanie Pöhn-Helbig and Dr. Andre Schulz.  Their understanding of various geographies, combined with their leadership experience will be a strong asset for Lufthansa Cargo and our customers in these dynamic markets.  Their diverse backgrounds provide fresh and innovative perspectives and further enhance our focus on enabling global business.”


With revenue of €3.0 billion and 7.5 billion freight ton kilometers in 2023, Lufthansa Cargo is one of the world’s leading air freight companies, employing approximately 4,150 team members worldwide.  The cargo carrier serves around 300 destinations in over 100 countries with a dedicated fleet of freighters, as well as belly-hold cargo capacity of passenger aircraft operated by Lufthansa German Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings Discover and SunExpress.  This enables Lufthansa Cargo to offer customers capacity on up to 7,000 weekly flights to over 350 destinations worldwide.  The company also operates an extensive road feeder service network.  Lufthansa Cargo is a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and is the Group’s logistics specialist.
