Lufthansa has today announced that earning Points for Group frequent flyer status is now also possible on ITA Airways’ flights. Miles & More members can now earn Points, Qualifying Points and HON Circle Points when flying with ITA Airways.
On Monday (February 17, 2025), Lufthansa announced that Miles & More members can now earn Points for their frequent flyer status when traveling with ITA Airways, in addition miles. By accruing Points, Qualifying Points, and in Business Class, HON Circle points, they will have more opportunities to achieve Lufthansa Group frequent flyer status. The number of Points awarded is the same as with all other Group airlines and co-issuing Miles & More airline partners.
In Monday’s announcement, Lufthansa Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, Dieter Vranckx, said,
“It is great to see how quickly the integration of ITA Airways into the Lufthansa Group is progressing. This is a significant strategic step as loyalty is a key success factor of this integration, since we can offer seamless benefits and an even more comprehensive offering to our loyal passengers.”
Also commenting on the further integration of ITA Airways, Lufthansa Group’s SVP – Customer Journey, Caroline Drischel, added,
“I am delighted for the most loyal customers of the Lufthansa Group airlines, which now also includes ITA Airways. For them, the new opportunity to earn Points for Lufthansa Group frequent flyer status is a great benefit. This gives our frequent flyers more opportunities to achieve or maintain their status – and thus enjoy exclusive benefits.”
Since January 17, 2025, ITA Airways has been a member of the Lufthansa Group. Miles & More members already have the opportunity to earn and redeem miles on ITA flights. Additionally, members of ITA Airways’ Volare frequent flyer program can also earn and redeem Volare Points on Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines flights.
As a special welcome promotion, members can earn up to 6,000 additional miles. Any customer flying with ITA Airways between March 1st and April 15, 2025, will earn 2,000 additional miles for two continental flights, and 4,000 additional miles for two Intercontinental flights, regardless of booking class. For the summer 2025 flight schedule, over 100 flight connections across ITA Airways and Lufthansa Group Airlines’ networks will initially share flight numbers. Starting March 30, 2025, ITA Airways’ guests can also visit and use around 130 lounges of the Lufthansa Group and partners. ITA Airways’ lounges will also be open to Lufthansa Group passengers from this date. Additionally, during the first half of 2026, ITA Airways is set to become an official member of the Star Alliance.
