Airbus has today announced that Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), the parent company of Malaysia Airlines, has taken delivery of their first of 20 new Airbus A330neos on lease from Avolon.
On Friday (November 29, 2024), Airbus announced that Malaysia Airlines Group (MAG), that parent company of Malaysia Airlines, has taken delivery of their first new Airbus A330neo. This is the first of 20 A330neos the carrier will take delivery of on lease from Avolon. MAG’s new A330neo is configured in a premium two-class 297 passenger layout with 28 fully lie-flat Business Class suites and an all new 269-seat Economy Class cabin. Guests will enjoy more personal space, larger overhead bins, and the latest inflight entertainment and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Malaysia Airlines will deploy the aircraft on routes across the Asia Pacific region, as well as to The Middle East. MAG is the 20th global airline to operate the modern, fuel-efficient, A330neo. To date, Airbus has delivered over 140 A330neos to airlines worldwide.
Headquartered in Ireland, Avolon is a major international provider of aircraft leasing and lease management services, and works with 142 airlines in 63 countries. As of June 30, 2024, the company had an owned, managed and committed fleet of 1,029 aircraft. Avolon also has offices in the U.S., Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore. Avolon is 70 percent owned by an indirect subsidiary of Bohai Leasing Co., Ltd., a public company listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, and 30 percent owned by ORIX Aviation Systems, a subsidiary of ORIX Corporation.
