Norse Atlantic Airways Celebrates Inaugural Service Between Fort Lauderdale and Oslo

Norse Atlantic Airways’ inaugural flight between Fort Lauderdale and Oslo took flight on Monday, June 20th, following the launch of service between New York-JFK and Oslo on June 14, 2022. The carrier is offering one-way fares from Fort Lauderdale to Oslo from only $149.

On Wednesday (June 22, 2022), Norse Atlantic Airways announced the launch of inaugural service between Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Oslo with the first flight taking off from FLL on Monday June 20, 2022. In celebration of the first flight, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Gate 3, where remarks were made by Norse CEO Bjørn Tore Larsen, Broward County Mayor, Michael Udine, FLL CEO, Mark Gale, and Visit Lauderdale’s Executive Vice President, Tony Cordo. During the ceremony Mayor Udine proclaimed June 20th as Norse Atlantic Airways Day, and presented Norse’s CEO Larsen with the Keys to the County.


Speaking at Monday’s ribbon cutting ceremony, Norse Atlantic Airways’ CEO, Bjørn Tore Larsen, said,

“Norse Atlantic Airways has now entered a new chapter, we are delivering on our promise to offer affordable value and a quality traveling experience to all. Our first Norse Atlantic Airways flight from Fort Lauderdale to Oslo is the culmination of months of preparation and hard work by dedicated colleagues across all departments. This marks a proud moment for us all at Norse as we now look ahead to ramping up our network for the benefit of customers, businesses, and local economies. The combination of affordable transatlantic flights offered by Norse Atlantic Airways and the return of transatlantic service to and from FLL means that passengers now have the ability to explore further for less and enjoy the convenience and choice of an efficient, quick, and modern link between the United States and Norway.”


Also commenting on the new service, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport’s CEO and Director of Aviation, Mark Gale, said,


“Norse’s debut at FLL is an important milestone for our airport as it marks the return of transatlantic service and a direct link to Europe that has been missing for a few years. We're thrilled to welcome Norse to our portfolio of international carriers and look forward to a mutually beneficial and successful partnership for many years to come. South Florida travelers now have a new affordable flight option for traveling between FLL and Oslo, and we hope to see more European service from Norse in the near future.”

Flights from JFK to Oslo started on June 14th and will ramp up to seven flights weekly from July 4th, with one-way fares from $200. Service from Fort Lauderdale to Oslo started on June 20th and will ramp up to three flights weekly from July 3rd, with one-way fares from only $149. Flights between Orlando and Oslo will start on July 5th with three weekly flights and one-way fares from $149. Los Angeles to Oslo flights will commence on August 9th with three weekly services and one-way fares from $202.


Norse Atlantic’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners are configured with Economy and Premium cabins, and customers can choose between Light, Classic and Plus fares. Light fares represent the best value, while Plus fares include the maximum baggage allowance, two meal services and an enhanced airport and onboard experience and added ticket flexibility. Each seat is equipped with a state-of-the art inflight entertainment (IFE) experience, and Premium cabin seats feature a generous 43-inch seat pitch and a comfortable 12-inch recline.


Founded in March 2021 by major shareholder and CEO Bjørn Tore Larsen, Norse Atlantic Airways offers affordable transatlantic and European flights. The company’s head office is located in Arendal, Norway, and Norse has a second office in London. Norse has a fleet of 15 modern, fuel-efficient Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The carrier serves or will serve destinations including New York, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Paris, London and Berlin. The first flights between Oslo and the U.S. departed on June 14, 2022.
