On Wednesday (July 13, 2022), Norwegian Air introduced a refreshed tail design, the first of which features Norwegian Actress Wenche Foss. Introduced in 2002, the carrier’s ‘tail heroes’ program showcases pioneers in their field and also the achievements of those who have helped shape the Norwegian and Nordic identity. As part of the carrier’s 20th anniversary, the tail heroes images are getting a facelift to include an image relating to their work and life. Norwegian’s tail hero Wenche Foss is the first to feature the new design in red, white and blue, along with an illustration of the National Theater. Images of Max Manus, Anne-Cath. Vestly, Gidsken Jakobsen, Greta Garbo, Knud Rasmussen, and Minna Canth will also be refreshed soon.

In today’s announcment, Norwegian’s Executive Vice President for Marketing, Sales and Customer Service, Christoffer Sundby, said,

“We are very happy to showcase the first aircraft with a new design. The tail heroes have been with us since 2002, and the people who characterize the planes are well known and arouse great commitment among our customers. The new design is part of the company's anniversary celebration this year.”

For summer 2022, Norwegian has around 70 aircraft in regularly scheduled service, which will increase to 80 for summer 2023. Progressively, the aircraft will be refreshed with the new tail heroes design by the airline’s technical department.
