Norwegian Air Shuttle has today announced that Spenn, their new benefit currency in partnership with Strawberry, has officially launched in the Nordic region. Spenn will make it easier to earn and redeem points across loyalty programs.
On Tuesday (November 19, 2024) Norwegian Air Shuttle announced, that in partnership with Strawberry, their new Spenn loyalty currency has officially been launched in the Nordics. Spenn will make it easier for loyalty members to earn and use points across both programs, starting with hotel stays and air travel. In the long term, the goal is to create an advantageous currency that can be used across range of well-known brands and partners in the Nordic region. Utilizing Spenn, Norwegian Reward members can pay in full or part for flights and hotel accommodation, and also earn Spenn on travel. In the future, it will also be possible to use and earn Spenn with other partners.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Norwegian’s CEO, Geir Karlsen, said,
“This is a day we have been looking forward to for a long time. Ever since we announced the collaboration with Strawberry, we have wanted to challenge the established loyalty market and create a benefit currency that gives members flexibility and opportunities beyond what the market has today. Going forward, we believe that Spenn will provide all our and Strawberry's members with even more and better experiences.”
Soon, the combined seven million members of Norwegian Rewards and Strawberry will be able to download the new Spenn app, where they can connect their existing Norwegian and Strawberry membership accounts. Then, they will be able to earn and spend Spenn on future purchases. Norwegian Rewards members will now earn Spenn on their flights, while previously earned CashPoints will be retained, and can be used with Norwegian and partners as usual.
