On Sunday (August 25, 2024) Oman Air announced the delivery of the first of three Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners scheduled for delivery in 2024, expanding their Dreamliner fleet to 10 aircraft.  The carrier will also receive eight more 787s by 2027.  Oman Air’s newest 787-9 touched down in Muscat on Friday afternoon (August 23), arriving from Boeing’s facility in Seattle.  The carrier’s newest 787-9 is configured in two classes with 30 Business Class and 258 Economy Class seats.

In Sunday’s announcement, Oman Air’s CEO, Con Korfiatis, said,

“We’re excited to welcome our new Boeing B787-9 to our aircraft line-up, which aligns with our strategy to fly a modern and common Oman Air fleet.  It allows us to maintain efficiency in operations, optimise maintenance costs and ensure a seamless and consistent experience for our guests.  Our latest addition to the fleet is also consistent with our focus on transforming our airline towards financial sustainability, while upholding our reputation as a world-class carrier and supporting Oman’s ambitions to increase tourism and connectivity in the years to come.”

Muscat-based Oban Air began operations in 1993, initially to serve important domestic destinations.  Since then, the airline has become a major international carrier, connecting Oman to the world. The airline currently has fleet of 45 aircraft, including six Airbus A330-300s, four A330-200s, eight 787-9s, two 787-8s, 13 737-8 MAX, five 737-900s, and seven 737-800s.
