On Tuesday (February 18, 2025), Pratt & Whitney announced the addition of Sanad Group to their global GTF engine maintenance network.  Sanad is a UAE based global aerospace engineering and solutions leader, wholly-owned by Abu Dhabi’s sovereign investor Mubadala Investment Company PJSC.  Sanad will become the first GTF MRO network in South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa region, with their new state-of-the-art facility in Al Ain expected to be completed by 2028.  Once completed, the facility will service PW1100G-JM and PW1500G engines for the Airbus A320neo and A220 families respectively, as well as PW1900G engines for the Embraer E-Jet aircraft family.  Capabilities will include full maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, along with testing capability.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Pratt & Whitney’s Vice President of Aftermarket for GTF Engines, Marc Meredith, said,

“As the GTF fleet continues to grow, and aftermarket demand along with it, we are expanding our global network with industry-leading MRO providers such as Sanad.  Sanad has been a service provider for the V2500 engine for more than a decade and will provide customers with the high level of service they expect.”

Also commenting on their expanded relationship with Pratt & Whitney, Sanad’s Managing Director and CEO, Mansoor Janahi, added,

“Establishing the GTF maintenance center in Abu Dhabi will enable Sanad to provide high-quality MRO services on the latest technology engines, with the ability to service engines worldwide.  This initiative will create highly specialized jobs, diversify the economy and further strengthen Abu Dhabi and the UAE's position as a global aviation hub.”

Pratt & Whitney’s GTF MRO network includes 20 shops across four continents, and is part of the company’s EngineWise® solutions, which provide operators with a full range of aftermarket services.
