Pratt & Whitney Canada Announces New PW127XT Turboprop Engine Series

At the Dubai Airshow today, Pratt & Whitney Canada announced the launch of a new PW127XT engine series, which is the new standard for operating economics, maintenance and sustainability for regional aircraft.

On Monday (November 15, 2021), Pratt & Whitney Canada, a business unit of Pratt & Whitney, announced from the Dubai Airshow the launch of a new PW127XT engine series for regional turboprop aircraft. The company celebrated the launch with ATR, with the PW127-XTM engine that is purpose built to offer world-class reliability and increased value for ATR 42/72 aircraft. The engine series sets a new benchmark for operating economics, maintenance and sustainability for regional aircraft. According to the company, the engine offers 40 percent extended time on wing, 20 percent lower maintenance costs and a three percent improvement in fuel efficiency, making regional turboprop aircraft more sustainable. Currently, regional turboprops offer up to 40 percent in fuel efficiency compared to 30-70 passenger regional jets.


In Monday’s announcement, Pratt & Whitney Canada’s President, Maria Della Posta, said,

Optimized for the ATR 42/72 aircraft family, it will deliver a significant improvement in operating costs, extending the already impressive operating economics and sustainability of this regional turboprop.
