Pratt & Whitney Lands EngineWise Service Agreements with Vietnam Airlines and China Southern

Pratt & Whitney announced Friday that they had secured EngineWise service agreements with both Vietnam Airlines and China Southern Airlines. Yesterday, P&W announced a similar agreement with China Eastern Airlines.

Today, Pratt and Whitney, a United Technologies Company (NYSE: UTX) announced the signing of EngineWise comprehensive service agreements with both Vietnam Airlines and China Southern, after inking a similar deal with China Eastern Airlines yesterday. Vietnam Airlines signed a 12-year agreement for engine maintenance on their fleet of 20 Airbus A321neos equipped with Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. At the Hanoi signing ceremony, Vietnam Airlines’ EVP, Dang Ngoc Hoa said,


“Vietnam Airlines’ objective is to have the highest level of safety, performance and reliability on our entire fleet which includes GTF-powered aircraft. With Pratt & Whitney’s EngineWise services solutions, we are able to optimize our fleet and better serve our customers.”

Pratt & Whitney also signed a 12-year EngineWise comprehensive service agreement with China Southern Airlines on Friday. The agreement will cover China Southern’s fleet of 24 Airbus A320neos powered by P&W GTF engines. At today’s Shanghai signing ceremony, Commercial Engines Customer Business – Greater China President, Yogesh Farswani stated,


We are thrilled to sign our first EngineWise services agreement with China Southern and help the airline to manage their engine fleet more efficiently. EngineWise is our commitment to integrate our engine expertise and fleet intelligence into services for our customers.


Pratt & Whitney’s GTF engine entered service in 2016, reducing fuel burn by 16%, nitric oxide emissions by 50% and a noise footprint reduction of 75%. On Thursday, Pratt & Whitney also signed an EngineWise comprehensive services agreement with China Eastern Airlines to cover maintenance for the airline’s V2500 engines. In Thursday’s announcement, Commercial Engines Customer Business – Greater China President, Yogesh Farswani stated,


“We would like to thank China Eastern for their continued confidence in Pratt & Whitney to maintain their V2500 engines – one of the largest fleets in the world. EngineWise represents our long-term commitment to customers to improve the predictability, reliability and health of their fleets. We look forward to commencing aftermarket services with China Eastern.”
