Qantas has launched new winter seasonal service between Adelaide and Albury-Wodonga. The route will be operated twice weekly with a 50-seat Q300 aircraft until September 25, 2022.
On Friday (July 8, 2022), Qantas announced the launch of new winter seasonal service between Adelaide and Albury-Wodonga. The carrier will offer two weekly return flights with a Q300 turboprop aircraft (now designated De Havilland Canada Dash 8-300) through September 25, 2022. The new service is the only direct connection between South Australia and Albury, saving travelers over three hours compared to connecting via Sydney or Melbourne. Qantas now connects Albury with four capital cities, namely Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide.
In Friday’s announcement, QantasLink’s CEO, John Gissing, said,
“We’re continuing to see strong demand for Albury-Wodonga services and this new seasonal route means that the border city now has a direct flight to Adelaide. The new service is great news for local tourism operators, the business community and those looking for a South Australian holiday. For South Australians, the new route opens up a gateway to their closest snowfields, Falls Creek and Hotham, for what has been a strong early snow season and makes the Albury-Wodonga region more accessible than ever.”
Qantas customers traveling on the new Adelaide-Albury route will enjoy premium service including complimentary food and drinks, as well as baggage and lounge access in Adelaide for eligible frequent flyers. Additionally, ski and snowboard equipment can be included within the checked baggage allowance.
