Qatar Airways announced on Thursday the official grand opening of their new Premium Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport’s Terminal 1. The luxurious space opened on Valentine’s Day and is designed to narrow the gap between business and first class lounges.
Today, Qatar Airways announced the official grand opening of their luxurious new Premium Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport’s Terminal 1. Although the announcement came on Thursday, the Premium Lounge opened on February 14, 2020 with a concept meant to bridge the divide between business and first class lounges. As would be expected from the award-winning airline, the lounge features an ultra-luxurious interior and numerous enhanced offerings. In Thursday’s announcement, Qatar Airways Group’s Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said,
“We are thrilled to have launched our latest Premium Lounge at Singapore Changi Airport. The lounge design is inspired by modern-day Arabic architecture, reflecting Qatar Airways’ heritage. Qatar Airways has already set one industry benchmark with our award-winning Business Class seat, Qsuite, now we are redefining the new standard for business class lounges. We want to ensure that the on-ground experience offered to our passengers matches our iconic five-star airline experience. As the first Qatar Airways lounge following this design concept, it will serve as a new standard for our Premium Lounges going forward. Singapore marks our fifth international Premium Lounge, and we are delighted to develop our portfolio worldwide, offering sophisticated, modern and spacious lounges to our passengers, who can expect to receive exceptional services like never before throughout their journey with Qatar Airways.”
Qatar Airways’ new Premium Lounge at Singapore’s Changi Airport is around 700 square meters and can accommodate 85 guests at a time. The lounge is open between 7:30am and 2:00am daily and offers Qatar Airways’ Business Class passengers a sophisticated and luxurious environment with modern Arabic design elements. The lounge’s grand entrance features Qatar Airways’ signature “Marhaba” engraved sandstone wall with a luxurious display of white orchids. The botanical-patterned wall is inspired by Singapore’s affinity for horticulture and greenery, add in a local touch to the overall design.
Mindful to the varying needs of their traveling guests, Qatar Airways’ Premium Lounge incorporates seven different seating areas including the Principal Lounge, Quiet Pods, Garden Bistro, High Seating, Martini Bar, Brasserie and Private Lounge. Naturally, guests can expect a bespoke culinary experience as the lounge is equipped with a full kitchen for freshly-prepared à la carte food orders, coupled with a sumptuous international buffet spread. Additionally, a dedicated mixologist is available at the centerpiece Martini Bar offering five-star mocktail and cocktails to complete the five-star lounge experience. The five cozy Quiet Pods offer guests a semi-private respite with sound-proofing, reading lights and universal charging ports. Unique custom furniture offers guests comfort and style and include a carefully designed sideboard with lamp, universal plug point, wireless charger and space for storing handbags and personal belongings.
Qatar Airways’ new Changi Premium Lounge joins a growing portfolio of exclusive Arabic-inspired international lounges, including existing bespoke lounges in London, Paris, Beirut and Bangkok. Qatar Airways’ operates three daily flights between Singapore and Doha with the carrier’s state-of-the-art Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. The luxuriously appointed aircraft can accommodate 327 guests with 46 Qsuite Business Class seats and 281 extra-wide 18-inch economy class seats. The carrier’s innovative Q-suite offers guests the first-ever double-bed in Business Class and incorporate sliding panels so travelers in adjoining seats can convert the space into a private cabin.
