On Wednesday (October 7, 2020) Rolls-Royce announced an expansion of their SelectCare service options for airline operators of Trent 700 powered Airbus A330 aircraft. The new option, called ‘SelectCare Repair’ complements the existing range of Care service by covering “check and repair” shop visits for a dollar-per-engine-flying-hour fee. Customers will enjoy a high degree of cost certainty as there is no cap on the number of shop visits or the individual cost of a visit. In Wednesday’s announcement, Rolls-Royce’s Services Director – Civil Aerospace, Dominic Horwood, said,

“By adding SelectCare Repair to our existing portfolio of services options in our CareStore, we are pleased to offer our customers further flexibility in how they choose to maintain their engines while enjoying a high degree of cost certainty. At a time when the aviation landscape is constantly evolving, we believe SelectCare Repair and SelectCare Refurb will give our customers the agility to react to their engine maintenance demands and tailor their refurbishment regime to meet their individual needs.”

The new Care option joins the company’s 'SelectCare Refurb' program which provides operators with cost predictability for major scheduled shop visits, which typically occur every 4-5 years. The two options are complementary, allowing customers to choose either or both options and manage remaining shop visits on a time and material cost basis. Rolls-Royce has pioneered a range of services to meet the needs of airline operators including TotalCare®, an integrated suite of services that includes full risk transfer of off-wing maintenance costs with a “power-by-the-hour” payment agreement.
