SAS Appoints Peter Cabello Holmberg as New Chief Information Officer

SAS has today announced that Peter Cabello Holmberg has been named as the airline’s new Chief Information Officer.  In his new role, Holmberg will be responsible for leading SAS’ digital transformation agenda.

On Thursday (October 3, 2024), SAS announced the appointment of Peter Cabello Holmberg as the carrier’s new Chief Information Officer (CIO) effective November 1st, 2024.  Mr. Holmberg will now be responsible for SAS’ digital transformation , with a focus on advancing digital solutions, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving innovation.  Mr. Holmberg was recently nominated as Denmark’s CIO of the year for steering global digital and IT Transformations, building modern tech infrastructures, managing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and optimizing IT operations.


In Thursday’s announcement, SAS’ President and CEO, Anko Van der Werff, said,


“It’s with great pleasure we welcome Peter onboard. As we continue to evolve and adapt to a rapidly changing industry, this appointment comes at a pivotal moment for SAS.  Peter’s vast experience in driving digital innovation will ensure that we not only meet but exceed our customers’ expectations.  With Peter at the helm of its digital transformation, SAS is well-positioned to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the future, building a stronger and more resilient airline for its customers and stakeholders.”


Also commenting on his upcoming role as SAS’ CIO, Peter Cabello Holmberg, added,

Peter has extensive experience in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMG) and retail sectors.  His strong commercial focus on customer-centricity, aligns with SAS’ strategy to adopt best practices from retail, particularly in how technology can transform and elevate the guest experience.  He joins SAS from Fiskars Group, where he service as Chief Digital Officer, where he played a key role in accelerating the digital transformation, growing the direct-to-consumer channel, and improving customer engagement and operational efficiency.  Previously, Holmberg held leadership roles with Pandora and GN Group, where he led a range of tech-driven initiatives.
