On Wednesday (October 23, 2024), SAS announced the launch of new service between Copenhagen and Nuuk in Greenland. Starting June 27, 2025, the route will operate three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The launch of the new route will align with the opening on Nuuk’s international airport later this year, marking SAS’ return to Greenland for the first time in over two decades. Thanks to an existing commercial partnership with Air Greenland, SAS connects Greenland to their broader network. Nuuk is one of the world’s most pristine and unique travel destinations. Recently, Greenland was named by National Geographic as one of the 25 best places to travel in 2025.
In Wednesday’s announcement, SAS’ President and CEO, Anko van der Werff, said,
“We’re thrilled to enhance connectivity between Greenland, Scandinavia and destinations worldwide through our SkyTeam alliance. This new route meets the rising demand for unique, adventurous travel experiences, while reinforcing Copenhagen’s position as a key hub for Scandinavian connections worldwide.”
SAS is the leading airline in Scandinavia, with main hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm, and flying to 135 destinations across Europe, the U.S. and Asia. Each year, SAS serves over 25 million passengers and transports 55 tons of cargo, all facilitated by a passionate team of more than 10,000 colleagues. The company aims to be a driving force in sustainable aviation and in the transition towards net zero emissions by 2050. SAS also offers ground handling services, technical maintenance and air cargo services.
