Celebrating their 30th anniversary at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, Florida, Spirit Airlines has announced the launch of new exclusive service to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
On Friday (December 15, 2023), Spirit Airlines celebrated their 30th anniversary at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers, Florida. Marking the occasion, Spirit also announced the launch of exclusive nonstop service between Fort Myers and Luis Muñoz International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The route will operate four times weekly with an Airbus A320 Family aircraft. Spirit launched service to/from Fort Myers in 1993, and now offers nonstop service to 14 destinations with 20 peak-day departures.
In Friday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, John Kirby, said,
“RSW is a great, long-time partner of Spirit Airlines, and we're thankful to the Fort Myers community for their continued support as we add the only nonstop service to SJU on our 30th anniversary. The addition of nonstop service to San Juan creates an exciting opportunity to connect the two vibrant communities with reliable and convenient service.”
Also commenting on Spirit’s new service to San Juan, Lee County Airport Authority’s

In November 2023, Spirit Airlines also launched new service from Fort Myers to Charleston (CHS), Norfolk (ORF) and Richmond (RIC).
