Today, Spirit Airlines celebrated new service to and from Milwaukee by nearly tripling the number of destinations on offer. The carrier will add new routes to Cancun, Fort Myers, Phoenix and Tampa, in addition to Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Orlando.
On Thursday (June 24, 2021), Spirit Airlines celebrated the first arrivals of their bright yellow planes at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) by announcing they will nearly triple the number of destinations offered. In addition to previously announced service to Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Orlando, Spirit will add service between Milwaukee and Cancun with three weekly flights and daily service to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Phoenix and Tampa. During today’s inaugural celebration at General Mitchell Airport, Spirit also presented a donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin.
At Thursday’s celebration, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, John Kirby, said,
“We see a vibrant future full of new opportunities for travel here in the Badger State. We're excited to nearly triple our convenient, nonstop flights to exciting destinations. We can't wait to take more Milwaukee Guests to 'sun and sand' destinations and bring travelers from all over to enjoy Wisconsin's great festivals, sports scene and fun outdoor activities.”
Also commenting on Spirit’s inaugural service and expansion, Milwaukee County Airport Director, Brian Dranzik, added,
“It's just a great feeling being here today to welcome new air service to Milwaukee. When you think about where we were a year ago, it's hard to imagine that we would be introducing a new airline here at MKE, let alone one that's expanding so quickly. Spirit Airlines is now up to eight nonstop destinations from MKE, which provides Milwaukee travelers even more connections to where they want to go.”
