Three months after announcing a new maintenance facility at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Spirit has today announced the addition of pilot and flight attendant crew base at IAH.
On Tuesday (July 19, 2022), Spirit Airlines announced the launch of a new pilot and flight attendant crew base at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas. The carrier expects to locate approximately 150 pilots and around 300 cabin crew members at the new base starting fall 2022, with additional crew, supervisors and support staff to follow. This follows the announcment that Spirit would open a new aircraft maintenance facility at IAH. The new base joins the airline’s existing crew bases in Atlanta (ATL), Atlantic City (ACY), Chicago (ORD), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Detroit (DTW), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Las Vegas (LAS) Miami (MIA) and Orlando (MCO).
In today’s announcment, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Operations and Crew Planning, Nick Bartolotta, said,

Houston is a key international gateway in our flight network, and we greatly appreciate the strong partnership with the city and airport that helped make this opportunity a reality.”
Spirit Airlines’ guests can currently travel from Houston to 16 domestic and seven international destinations, including new daily nonstop service to Monterrey, Mexico (MTY), which is scheduled to start this fall.
