Spirit Airlines Launches New Exclusive Daily Service Between Birmingham, Alabama and Fort Lauderdale

Spirit Airlines has launched new exclusive daily direct service between Birmingham, Alabama and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Limited time one-way fares are now bookable from only $49 (T&Cs apply).

On Tuesday (October 15, 2024), Spirit Airlines announced the launch of their inaugural Alabama service with the start of new nonstop daily service between Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) in Alabama and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) in Florida.  Customers can now book limited time one-way fares from only $49, while also enjoying a Free Spirit® bonus points promotion (T&Cs apply).  Members of the Free Spirit® loyalty program can earn 1,500 bonus points on roundtrip flights and 750 bonus points on one-way flights to/from Birmingham.  To qualify for the bonus points, travel must be booked by October 20, 2024, and flown by November 30, 2024.  Inbound customers to Fort Lauderdale will also enjoy one-stop connectivity to over two dozen destinations across the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean.


In Tuesday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ VP – Network Planning, John Kirby, said,


“The launch of our inaugural service in Alabama is a game-changing opportunity for Birmingham travelers looking for low-fare, nonstop flights to South Florida.  Our Magic City Guests will enjoy Spirit's newly enhanced experience on their journey to the famous beaches of Fort Lauderdale, with new travel options ranging from our economical Go and Go Savvy to our premium Go Comfy and Go Big.”


Also commenting on Spirit’s new service, Birmingham Airport Authority’s Board Chair, Ashby Pate, added,


“This is a great time to invest in Birmingham.  Passenger traffic is growing, and we know that our customers want more choice when they travel. We hope this low-fare option to Fort Lauderdale will be the first of many nonstops offered by Spirit Airlines at BHM.”
