Spirit Airlines has launched up to four weekly nonstop flights between San Antonio and San Juan, Puerto Rico, the first-ever direct service from San Antonio to the Caribbean.

On Thursday (March 6, 2025), Spirit Airlines announced the launch of new nonstop service between San Antonio International Airport (SAT) in Texas and Luis Muñoz International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The route will operate up to four times weekly, marking the first time SAT customers have direct service to the Caribbean. Since 2022, Spirit has expanded their San Antonio network to eight nonstop destinations. Starting April 9, 2025, the carrier will also launch new nonstop service between San Antonio and Atlanta (ATL).
In Thursday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, John Kirby, said,
“Our new, milestone service provides critical connectivity between the two vibrant communities of San Antonio and San Juan. We’re always looking to add new, exciting destinations for our Guests to visit and explore, and our new service will make it easier for travelers to enjoy a vacation on the Island of Enchantment or the Alamo City.”
Also commenting on the new San Juan service, the City of San Antonio’s Director of Airports, Jesus Saenz, Jr., said,

“We couldn't thank Spirit Airlines enough for their continued investment here in San Antonio. The ties between our region and Puerto Rico continue to grow and flourish. Establishing nonstop service has been a priority for us at SAT, and we are thrilled to celebrate the first nonstop flight here with our partners at Spirit Airlines.”
