Spirit Airlines has today commenced operations in Rochester, New York with daily nonstop service to Orlando, Florida. Travelers to Orlando will also enjoy convenient one-stop onward connections across the U.S. and Latin America.
On Tuesday (October 18, 2022), Spirit Airlines announced the launch of operations to/from Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) with daily service to Orlando International Airport (MCO) in Florida. Spirit guests traveling to Orlando will also enjoy convenient one-stop connectivity to destinations across the carrier’s network in the U.S. and Latin America. The Spirit Charitable Foundation commemorated the new ROC service with a $20,000 donation to the nonprofit GiGi’s Playhouse, the only network of Down Syndrome Achievement Centers, which provides free educational, therapeutic-based and career development programs for individuals with Down syndrome.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, John Kirby, said,
“Convenience is key to a great travel experience, and we're making it easy for our Rochester Guests to spend more time soaking up the sun at Orlando's theme parks and nearby attractions. Also commenting on the launch of service to/from ROC, Monroe County Executive, Adam Bello, said,

Regarding Spirit’s $20,000 donation, GiGi’s Playhouse of Rochester’s Executive Director, Donna Rush, said,
“We are grateful for this generous donation in support of our mission to make the world a more accepting place for individuals with Down syndrome. This gift from the Spirit Charitable Foundation will help us to continue supporting our families from diagnosis through adulthood by providing a safe haven for individuals of all ages to learn and grow.”
