Spirit Airlines Partners With L3Harris to Launch the New Spirit Wings Pilot Pathway

Spirit Airlines has today announced a new partnership with L3Harris to launch the new Spirit Wings Pilot Pathway in Sanford, Florida. L3Harris’ Flight Academy is conveniently located close to Spirit’s large Orlando, Florida operation.

On Thursday (December 15, 2022), Spirit Airlines announced a new partnership with L3Harris to launch the Spirit Wings Pilot Pathway, with the goal of expanding the carrier’s pipeline of professional pilots. L3Harris’ Flight Academy is conveniently located in Sanford, Florida, close to Spirit’s large operation in Orlando, Florida. This will provide graduates opportunities to build relationships, access Spirit’s nearby training facilities and to ability to advance to a rewarding career as a First Officer with the airline.


In Thursday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ Senior Director of Flight Operations and System Chief Pilot, Ryan Rodosta, said,


“L3Harris is a great partner for us because of its history of developing highly skilled pilots through state-of-the-art technology training with a modern fleet, as well as a commitment to safety and excellence. Our fleet is growing fast, creating plenty of opportunities for L3Harris graduates and the next generation of pilots to build their future at Spirit.”


Also commenting on the new partnership, L3Harris Training Services’ VP and General Manager, David Coward, added,


“Spirit Wings Pilot Pathway demonstrates the confidence international airlines have in our training, and the program ensures students have access to mentoring and employment opportunities at one of the leading airlines in the U.S.”


Candidates can apply for the Spirit Wings Pilot Pathway program after completing L3Harris Flight Academy training and achieving approximately 500 flight hours. If successful during Spirit’s interview process, candidates will then receive a Conditional Offer of Employment, a Spirit Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), and mentorship, as they work toward completing the minimum hours required for an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.
