Spirit Airlines to Increase Planned Service From Orange County California

The airline will bolster planned service from Orange County’s John Wayne Airport (SNA) with new service to Phoenix and additional frequencies to Las Vegas for 2021. Service from SNA to Oakland and Las Vegas are scheduled to start November 17th and 18th respectively.

On Thursday (November 5, 2020), Spirit Airlines announced that they will offer more service from John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Santa Ana (Orange County), California than originally planned. Flights from SNA to Oakland and Las Vegas is scheduled to commence on November 17th and 18th respectively. Spirit will add daily service to Phoenix (PHX) and increase frequency to Las Vegas to twice daily from January 6, 2021. Orange County recently granted Spirit additional takeoff and landing rights, allowing for the 2021 expansion. In Thursday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, John Kirby, said,

“We’ve wanted to bring More Go to Orange County for a long time now, and we appreciate the airport giving us an opportunity to expand so quickly. People are ready to travel again, and we are excited to expand our service portfolio from John Wayne with new nonstops to Phoenix and expanded service to Las Vegas, giving our Guests more access to low fares on the West Coast.”


Also commenting on Spirit’s SNA expansion, John Wayne Airport’s Director, Barry Rodinella, added,


“It’s exciting that Spirit is adding new destinations from John Wayne Airport, Orange County. The addition of Phoenix and extra Las Vegas service to more than 20 nonstop destinations means even greater choice and convenience for our guests.”


Spirit has offered service to/from California for over 20 years, with their first flight to Los Angeles (LAX). Since then, the carrier has expanded options for guests in the Los Angeles basin area with service to Burbank (BUR), Sacramento (SMF), Oakland (OAK) San Diego (SAN) and now Santa Ana (SNA) as well.
