Spirit Airlines is launching new service between Kansas City and four Florida destinations from June 2021. The carrier will offer new nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Pensacola and Tampa.
On Thursday (April 29, 2021), Spirit Airlines announced the launch of new service between Kansas City International Airport (MCI) and four destinations in Florida including Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Pensacola (PNS) and Tampa (TPA). The added routes double the number of cities offered from MCI and complements Spirit’s expanded service with more weekly flights to Orlando (MCO), Las Vegas (LAS) and Myrtle Beach (MYR). Fort Lauderdale is Spirit’s largest Caribbean and Latin American gateway, providing guests traveling from Kansas City with seamless onward one-stop international connections.
In Thursday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, John Kirby, said,
“Our Kansas City Guests told us they’re ready to get out and travel as vaccination efforts continue, and we’re responding with an unbeatable list of options stretching from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale. Kansas City knows Spirit treats its Guests like family, gets them there on time and leaves them with more money to spend on all the fun stuff once they arrive.”
Also commenting on Spirit’s MCI expansion, Kansas City’s Aviation Department Director, Pat Klein, added,
“We are pleased that Spirit is growing their presence at Kansas City International Airport through new routes and additional frequencies. Kansas City travelers will have even more choices to fly nonstop to sunny beaches and large cities, whether flying for business or pleasure.”
