Spirit Airlines to Launch New Service Between Birmingham and Fort Lauderdale

Starting October 10, 2024, Spirit Airlines will launch new daily nonstop service between Birmingham, Alabama and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

On Tuesday (June 18, 2024), Spirit Airlines announced the launch of new direct service between Birmingham-Shuttlesworth Airport (BHM) in Alabama and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) in Florida.  The route will operate daily starting October 10, 2024, marking the first time Spirit will serve the state of Alabama.  Inbound customers to FLL will also enjoy seamless one-stop connectivity to Latin America and the Caribbean.  Celebrating the new route, Spirit is offering limited-time introductory one-way fares from $69 (T&Cs apply).


In Tuesday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ VP – Network Planning, John Kirby, said,


“We can’t wait to welcome aboard Birmingham travelers looking for both an affordable and convenient way to enjoy Fort Lauderdale's beautiful beaches.  Our new daily service will make flying to Fort Lauderdale more accessible and will provide an attractive alternative to driving.  It will also make it easier for our Florida Guests to enjoy Birmingham's southern hospitality.”


Also commenting on the new Fort Lauderdale route, Birmingham Airport Authority’s Board Chair, Darlene Wilson, added,


“This is a great day for our community.  Spirit Airlines is showing a tremendous amount of confidence in this market, and we are thrilled to have this new option available to travelers.”
