Starting June 5, 2025, Spirit Airlines will launch new service from Columbia Metropolitan Airport in S.C., with nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Newark. From June 4th, the carrier will also start new service from Chattanooga to FLL, MCO and EWR.

On Wednesday (March 5, 2025), Spirit Airlines announced the launch of all-new service from Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) in South Carolina, with the only direct flights to Newark (EWR) and Orlando (MCO), as well as new service to Fort Lauderdale (FLL). Flights from Columbia to Orlando and Newark will operate three and four times per week, respectively, from June 5, 2025, while flights to Fort Lauderdale will operate three times weekly starting June 6, 2025. Spirit first launched South Carolina Service at Myrtle Beach (MYR) over 25 years ago, and later added Charleston (CHS) to their network in 2023.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Spirit Airlines’ VP – Network Planning, John Kirby, said,

Travelers from South Carolina’s capital city will soon enjoy convenient nonstop options and Spirit’s recently transformed experience on their way to various destinations with beaches, theme parks and big city attractions.”
Also commenting on Spirit’s new routes, Columbia Metropolitan Airport’s Interim President, CEO, and CFO, Gregg Hornsby, added,
“Securing three nonstop routes on Spirit Airlines is a significant accomplishment for the airport and likewise a big win for this entire community and region. We’re excited to welcome the Spirit team to the airport and look forward to seeing travelers in the coming months taking advantage of these fantastic air service opportunities.”
In a separate press release on Wednesday (March 5, 2025), Spirit announced the launch of exclusive new direct service between Chattanooga, Tennessee (CHA) and Fort Lauderdale, Newark and Orlando. Starting June 4, 2025, flights to both Orlando and Newark will operate four times weekly, while three weekly flights to Fort Lauderdale will commence on June 5, 2025. The new service to/from Chattanooga complements Spirit’s existing service to Nashville (BNA) and Memphis (MEM), which started in 2019 and 2022, respectively.
