On Friday (February 19, 2021), Swiss International Airlines announced the appointment of Lorenzo Stoll (49) as Head of Swiss WorldCargo effective April 1, 2021. Mr. Stoll currently serves as SWISS’s Head of Western Switzerland with responsibility for its Geneva business and operations, and a search for his replacement is already underway. Lorenzo Stoll will succeed Ashwin Bhat as Head of Swiss WorldCargo, as Mr. Bhat will become the Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Cargo on March 1, 2021. In Friday’s announcement, Swiss International Air Lines’ CFO, Markus Binkert, said,

“I am really pleased that, in Lorenzo Stoll, we have appointed such a skilled and seasoned expert from our own ranks. Lorenzo has been instrumental in ensuring our success in Geneva and our positioning as a premium carrier. I’m convinced that, with his wide experience in the commercial, the consumer goods and the aviation fields, he will be just as effective in further developing our air cargo division. And I wish him every success and satisfaction in his new capacity.”

Lorenzo Stoll will report to SWISS’s CFO Markus Binkert when he assumes his new duties on April 1, 2021. Mr. Stoll joined SWISS in 2013 as Head of Western Switzerland and has since achieved a turnaround of the company’s Geneva business and operations together with his team. His success in Western Switzerland has been assisted by the extensive Geneva deployment of the airline’s advanced and efficient Airbus A220 fleet. Prior to joining SWISS, Mr. Stoll spent 12 years with Nestlé, where he served in various international management positions in Vevey, Frankfurt and Paris. He was born in Zurich and grew up mainly in Western Switzerland and is a graduate of Lausanne’s Ecole Hôteliére.
