SWISS has taken delivery of their first Airbus A320neo equipped with the Airspace Cabin which features slimmer sidewall panels for more space at shoulder level, redesigned window bezels and integrated window shades, larger overhead bins, LED lighting and new lavatories.
On Thursday (January 20, 2022), Airbus announced that Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has taken delivery of their first Airbus A320neo configured with the Airspace Cabin. The cabin design features slimmer sidewall panels for extra personal space at shoulder level, better window views with redesigned bezels and completed integrated shades and the largest overhead bins which can accommodate 60 percent more bags. Additionally, the cabin has been equipped with the latest full LED technologies, including a LED-lit entrance area, as well as new lavatories with touchless features and antimicrobial surfaces. The A320neo Family also offers unmatched comfort in all classes and Airbus 18-inch wide seats in economy as standard.
In Thursday’s announcement, SWISS’ Chief Commercial Officer, Tamur Goudarzi Pour, said,

The first SWISS Airbus A320neo featuring the airspace cabin was delivered at the beginning of this month. The aircraft, registration HB-JDD, has been named ‘Elm’ after the Swiss alpine village which is home to the ‘Swiss Altitude 1150’ mineral water served onboard. The second Airspace equipped A320neo, registration HB-JDE, was delivered a few days later and named ‘Mürren’. The new aircraft will be deployed throughout SWISS’ European route network with the first flights scheduled for later this month. Swiss has now taken delivery of five new Airbus A320neos and two new A321neos. The carrier has 18 remaining A320neo Family aircraft on order, including 12 A320neos and six A321neos, which will join the fleet between now and 2025.
SWISS is a longstanding Airbus Customer and operates a fleet of Airbus A220 and A320 Family aircraft on their European network and A330s and A340s on their international long-haul network. In 2018, SWISS International Air Lines’ parent company, Lufthansa Group, elected to equip over 80 of their new A320neos on order from Airbus with Airspace cabins. The A320neo Family is the most successful aircraft family ever and delivers a 99.7 percent reliability rate and a 20 percent reduction in fuel consumption and emissions. The aircraft incorporates the latest generation engines and wingtip Sharklets.
At December 31, 2021, the Airbus A320neo Family had received nearly 7,900 orders from 120 global customers.
