TAP Air Portugal’s TAP Maintenance & Engineering division has successfully delivered a second A330neo to Aircalin after performing on-time C-checks for the New Caledonian airline. Aircalin is the first third-party carrier to benefit from TAP’s A330neo MRO experience.

Today (September 7, 2021), TAP Air Portugal announced that their MRO division, TAP Maintenance & Engineering (TAP M&E) has delivered the second A330neo to Aircalin after the completion of on-time C-checks. TAP Air Portugal operates their own fleet of 19 A330-900s, and Aircalin has now become the first third-part carrier to benefit from TAP’s A330neo MRO experience. TAP M&E offers a complete set of services including aircraft maintenance, engine repair and overhaul, components repair and overhaul, continuing airworthiness management , engineering services technical laboratories and training.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Aircalin’s Vice President of Maintenance and Engineering, Fabrice Teisseyre, said, “For the first C Check for both our A330neo, and during this very difficult COVID period for the whole Aeronautics industry, it was strategically very challenging and important for Aircalin to find an available MRO known for its ability and professionalism. After several consultations with different MRO’s, TAP was the best placed to meet our expectations. We were very pleased to be able to commit an agreement to perform the C Check in Lisbon for our two Aircrafts.” “Aircalin and its on-site team were impressed by the high level of professionalism demonstrated by TAP on a daily basis throughout the two projects. It was also very important for Aircalin that the deadlines were properly respected, with a double engine change scheduled on the first aircraft could be done on time, and a reliable with smooth return to operations for the second aircraft was completed. TAP and all its teams did a really great job for reaching all of Aircalin’s requirements and goals. We are confident to continuing further with TAP which has fulfilled our expectations on this challenging period.”
Also commenting on the successful MRO partnership, TAP Maintenance and Engineering’s Vice President of Marketing & Sales, Filipe Morais de Almeida, said,

Located in Lisbon, Portugal, TAP M&E has approximately 1,450 team members including highly qualified technicians and engineering staff.
Aircalin was founded in 1983 and is New Caledonia’s international airline, operating flights to Asia and the Asia Pacific region. The carrier operates a fleet of two Airbus A330neos, and two A320s. Aircalin usually operates 22 international flights to 11 destinations from Nouméa, including service to Tokyo, Osaka, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Auckland, Port Vila, Nadi, Wallis, Futuna and Papeete. Domestically, the carrier also offers daily service between the islands of Wallis and Futuna using 16-seat de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter Aircraft.
