Viva Air has launched nonstop service between Orlando International Airport and Medellin, Colombia. The carrier will offer three weekly nonstop flights which will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
On Friday (June 11, 2021), Viva Air announced the launch of new service between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and José María Córdova International Airport (MDE) in Medellin, Colombia. The route will be operated three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and serviced with a 188 seat Airbus A320neo. The newly painted A320neo features Viva Air’s new livery with a cheerful heart of yellow color and boomerang icon, signifying roundtrip flying, modernity, freshness, closeness, agility and simplicity. Due to high initial demand on the Orlando-Medellin route, Viva will increase frequencies to five weekly flights from July 8th through August 28, 2021. To celebrate the launch of the new route, Viva Air is offering one-way fares from $111. As a result of their arrival in Orlando, the carrier expects to deliver a 20 percent reduction in fares on the route and carry 27,700 passengers in the first year with a load factor of 84 percent.
In Friday’s inaugural celebration at MCO, Viva Air Group’s Chief Financial Officer, Jason Bewley, said,
“As we continue to grow our international operations and low-fare network, we are excited to bring our low fares to the high-demand Orlando-area market. We look forward to giving more people the opportunity to travel affordably between Central Florida and our Medellin hub, as well as convenient connections to the many destinations we serve throughout Colombia and beyond.”
Also speaking at today’s celebration, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Phil Brown, said,
“Adding another connection between the City of Eternal Spring and Central Florida, a place known for its adventure and magic, creates a new opportunity for everyone looking to experience both destinations. We’re happy to welcome Viva Air to Orlando International Airport with this new partnership and look forward to where they fly to next.”
