On Monday (November 4, 2024), Miami International Airport (MIA) announced that Volaris El Salvador has started new nonstop service between MIA and San Salvador.  The inaugural flight was preceded by a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, November 1st, 2024.  The route will now operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with a 174-seat Airbus A320.  This expands Volaris’ existing three weekly flights between San Salvador and Miami with one stop via San Pedro Sula, Honduras.  Volaris El Salvador originally entered the Miami market in December 2022 with the launch of the San Salvador-San Pedro Sula-Miami route.

In Monday’s announcement, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, said,

“I am thrilled that Volaris has added more flights from the popular Central American destination of San Salvador to our community.  A quarter of a million passengers travel between El Salvador and Miami-Dade annually, and we look forward to welcoming even more visitors from the Salvadoran capital because of Volaris’ expansion.”

Also commenting on the new direct Miami-San Salvador service, Volaris’ Sustainability and Corporate Development Director, Ronny Rodriguez, added,

“Serving the growing travel demand of Salvadorans and Central Americans to the United States continues to be one of the most important objectives of Volaris El Salvador. That is why as of today we will reach six cities in the United States. Expanding connectivity options at the lowest cost for travelers visiting friends and family or traveling for pleasure and business to the United States is our priority and expands our presence in the country.”
