WestJet Announces Summer Schedule With Over 90 New Flights From Calgary, Including Dawson Creek

On Friday, WestJet announced their summer schedule which includes over 90 new flights from Calgary, including new nonstop WestJet Link service to Dawson Creek, British Colombia.

Canada’s WestJet announced their summer schedule today featuring more than 90 flights from Calgary including new WestJet Link service to Dawson Creek, British Colombia. With the new Calgary-Dawson Creek, B.C. service, WestJet Link will now offer five daily routes between Calgary and Cranbrook, Lethbridge, Lloydminster and Medicine Hat as well as Vancouver-Cranbrook service this summer. Effective April 26, WestJet Link’s seasonal Calgary-Prince George, B.C. service will now be offered year-round and will be serviced with a 78-seat Bombardier Q400 (now renamed DeHavilland Canada Dash 8-400). In Friday’s announcement, WestJet’s Chief Commercial Officer, Arved Von zur Muehlen said,


“WestJet is focused on investing in Alberta to build and strengthen our Calgary hub. As WestJet continues on its strategic path of becoming a global network airline, we are pleased to offer our guests the ability to conveniently connect for business or pleasure across Canada, Europe and beyond this summer.”

WestJet is also launching Calgary-Boston service on May 14, 2020 and recently announced four-times weekly service between Calgary and Charlottetown. WestJet’s summer 2020 schedule will also see increased frequencies from Calgary to Portland, Oregon (US), Victoria, Nanaimo, Comox, Grand Prairie, Fort McMurray, Brandon, Winnipeg, Abbotsford and Yellowknife. Also commenting on today’s announcement, Calgary Airport Authority’s President and CEO, Bob Sartor added,


"WestJet continues to invest in YYC Calgary International Airport as its home base and expansion focus. It is Calgary’s largest carrier and we are committed to facilitating their growth. These additional flights will serve more guests bound for more destinations, delivering recreational and business opportunities for our region.”


For 2020, WestJet has added over 300 flights from Calgary on their flagship state-of-the art Boeing 787 Dreamliners, a 52% increase over 2019 to key transatlantic destinations. Dawson’s Creek is the carrier’s 72nd destination out of Calgary and by June 2020 WestJet will operate over 1,000 weekly peak-season flights out of Calgary International Airport. Further commenting on the new Dawson Creek route, Mr. Von zur Muehlen stated,


“Providing the opportunity for convenient travel into and out of Calgary will help strengthen Dawson Creek’s already vibrant oil and gas, agriculture and tourism industries, many of which have links to Calgary and beyond. The value of connecting people, markets and communities is immeasurable and we look forward to bringing Canada’s favourite airline to the city this April.”

WestJet Link is operated in conjunction with a capacity purchase agreement with Pacific Coast Airlines, which operates a fleet of WestJet-branded 34-seat SAAB 340Bs arranged in a two-class configuration. Each aircraft has six WestJet Premium seats, offering guests advanced boarding and two free checked bags.


WestJet and subsidiary regional airlines, WestJet Encore and WestJet Link, offer scheduled service to over 110 destinations across North America, Central America, the Caribbean and Europe. With WestJet’s airline partnerships, guests can seamlessly book flights to over 250 destinations in 20 countries.
