WestJet is bolstering connectivity between Calgary and Tokyo-Narita with new daily year-round service. Starting October 27, 2025. Through and expanded codeshare with Japan Airlines, customers will also enjoy one-stop connectivity to Osaka and Nagoya.

On Monday (April 7, 2025), WestJet announced an expansion of their connectivity between Calgary and Japan. Starting October 27, 2025, the carrier will offer daily year-round service between Calgary and Tokyo-Narita (NRT). Additionally, thanks to an expanded codeshare partnership with Japan Airlines, WestJet customers can enjoy seamless onward connectivity from Tokyo-Narita to Osaka (ITM) and Nagoya (NGO). The year-round expansion of this route follows WestJet’s successful launch of daily Calgary-Narita for the summer 2025 season.
In Monday’s announcement, WestJet’s EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, John Weatherill, said in part,
“Leveraging our Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, WestJet continues to strengthen Calgary’s tourism pipeline with expanded Trans-Pacific service, creating new inroads for economic growth across Western Canada and beyond. Today’s announcement of our expansion to daily year-round service between Calgary and Tokyo further reaffirms our commitment to bolstering Canadians' access to Asia…”
With 28 years of service, WestJet has cut airfares for Canadians in half and increased the flying population around Canada by over 50 percent. The airline launched in 1996 with three aircraft, 250 employees and five destinations, and has now grown to nearly 200 aircraft and 14,000 employees, offering service to over 100 destinations across North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia.
