Wizz Air will add two new A320neos to their Tirana base and launch new service to Friedrichshafen and Rimini. The carrier will also start new operations to and from Kukës to Vienna, Memmingen/Munich West, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.
On Friday (February 4, 2022), Wizz Air announced the addition of two new Airbus A320neos to their Tirana, Albania base, and the launch of new service from Tirana to Friedrichshafen and Rimini. The airline will also start operations to and from Kukës International Airport in Albania to Vienna, Memmingen/Munich West, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Wizz Air originally launched operations in Albania in 2017, and has since carried over 500,000 guests over four years. With the additional aircraft, Wizz’s Tirana base will have a fleet of eight modern, young, state-of-the-art aircraft by summer 2022. With the six new routes, the carrier will now offer service on 42 routes to 13 countries from Albania.
Speaking at Friday’s press conference, Wizz Air’s Chief Executive Officer, József Váradi, said,

We are announcing more aircraft in Tirana, more travel opportunities with adding Kukës to Wizz Air’s network, more low fare routes, as well as more jobs, and our support to ramp up tourism in Albania. Our modern aircraft, as well as our enhanced protective measures, will ensure the best possible conditions for travellers while operating the lowest environmental footprint. We look forward to welcoming passengers on board with great service, while we strive to become Europe’s greenest choice for air travel.”
