Wizz Air has announced that they will establish a permanent base in Chisinau, Moldova and will allocate a second aircraft in summer 2025. The carrier will also launch new service from Chisinau to Barcelona, Larnaca and Wroclaw.
On Tuesday (December 17, 2024), Wizz Air announced that they will establish a permanent base in Chisinau, Moldova, and will add a second aircraft to the base for summer 2025. The carrier will also launch three new direct routes from Chisinau, including service to Barcelona (Spain), Larnaca (Cyprus), and Wroclaw (Poland). From the end of July 2025, flights to Barcelona and Larnaca will operate three times weekly, while Wroclaw will be served two times per week. One-way fares to Barcelona and Larnaca are now bookable from €29.99, and to Wroclaw from €19.99. With the added destinations, the carrier will gain the leadership position in Moldova, offering 21 routes to 12 countries, including service to Abu Dhabi, Berlin, Brussels Charleroi, Vienna, Rome, London Luton, and Warsaw.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Wizz Air’s Head of Communications, Government and Public Affairs, Andras Rado, said,

This second aircraft will bring 360,000 new seats to the market annually for passengers traveling to and from Chisinau and 211% growth versus summer 2024. As we grow, we are proud to contribute to the Moldovan economy by creating more jobs and enhancing connectivity for travellers.”
Also commenting on the Wizz Air expansion in Moldova, Chisinau International Airport’s Acting Director, Sergiu Spoiala, added,
“Chisinau International Airport warmly welcomes the decision of Wizz Air to establish operational base at Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. The extension of the Wizz Air’s route map and increase of frequencies on already existing routes will greatly improve connectivity of the Chisinau International Airport with Europe. In partnership with Wizz Air, our airport will provide better and more convenient options of travel for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and other countries.”
